Unreal........................................ RANT!

She lives with us and just drives both of us nuts! She's was born and raised in Peru and does some of the most ****ed up stuff....some of it I would never, ever tell...

But one thing that bugs me constantly is the fact that she will leave meat out for two days and then try to feed it to our son....I have had serious shouting matches with her over that ****. She comes back with this whole deal about how the Peruvian mountain indians do it, and I tell her that the cows Peruvian mountain indians eat are not fed the same crap and kept the same way that our modern world ones are. I tell her than we in the year 2006 have microscopes and culture dishes that show there to be harmful bacteria that begin to form after a few hours and news of deaths from ecoli and whatnot. She thinks that shits crazy because she's been doing it all her life, but I can tell you first hand that her digestive system is not working right! I tell her that she is not required to believe me and eat the way I choose, but she must obey our rules with regard to our son.

She also parks behind my van when she comes home from work. Man that pisses me off.

BUMMER!

I sold a car a little while back to some guy in another state and even though I filled out all the paperwork I'm worried something like this will come back to haunt me!

If it's any consolation here's a heart warming picture of my car that was totaled hit and run about six months ago. I had every kind of insurance except 'uninsured motorist property damage', figuring I paid cash $2500 and what are the chances... yup, out $2500!

See Shawn ? And what stresses me out also are Co-Pays on insurance. Co Pays ? Deductibles? But I pay insurance every damn month ! Why am I paying Co Pays and Deducts !

That explains where the year after year month after month insurance payment goes ?

Friggin joke

What a drag - Can't understand how this falls in your lap legally - :furious3:

Can't do that poop up here in the north.

Hope it works out dude!

John have you tried lowballing the collection agency.

If there was not a loan pressing I would say fight it. With the loan issue I would say see if you can have it removed at a reduced rate.

I know you feel like you shouldn't pay anything and you are right, but if they know you could fight it and win they may take $400.

So
-we can take it off your credit right away if you pay $795
--I can't do that. My family is on the vergr of bankruptcy, THe most I can do is $200. Can you take $200 today and accept that as full paymen since there are mitigating circumstances?
-My supervisor says we can do $600
--How about $400.
-OK.

may not work but you can bargain with collection agencies and I've read that if you use the word "bankruptcy" that they may back off some or work with you more as they are afraid of not getting anything.

Ahh, the problem with that jdanstan is that as SOON as John makes ANY sort of deal with the collections, the clock starts ALL over again. So, if he makes a payment tomorrow, that GLITCH in his credit won't go away for another 7 years(or maybe 10 now) from TOMORROW.

Believe it or not John, if you pay ANYTHING you are more screwed than if you do NOTHING. This is why you have to get it removed entirely. Please, trust me on this...

You'll need a letter from that impound place. You'll need to call the place (I believe you said it was the impound place) that initially sent the info to collections. You must call them every day. Day in and day out. Annoy them. Until eventually, someone will cave. They might ask for some proof, which you will probably be able to provide them. But, as soon as someone there caves...its VERY simple...

They will send you a letter for YOUR records, with their letterhead saying "oops, we F'ed up...and we will take this off your credit and forward this info to the 3 credit bureaus." So, that letter is for you. You can use that, should a mortgage person try to screw you.

Then, they will send a nearly identical letter to the credit agencies to get it removed. And, because the actual time it takes to remove stuff from your credit is anywhere from 4-8 weeks, the letter in YOUR records might come in handy. So, get that letter in your hands. And get them to send a letter to the agencies. And there is only ONE way to do it...pull out a can of whip ass and start harassing those people. Call, call, call...go down there if you have to, then call again...eventually, they will recognize your voice, "hello Mr. Hudson...Patty who is handling your case isn't in right now..." "I need to speak to Patty's Boss." "He isn't in either." "I need to speak to Patty's Boss's Boss." You get the idea. It works, and frankly, its probably the ONLY way...

Sincerely,
Rickey 'have been there before" Meyer.

I'm saying the deal you make is i'll give you partial payment and you mark it PAYED IN FULL on my credit report.

Done it before on an old COMPusa count that I didn't know I had an outstanding payment on and the penalties and such racked up to $2500 and I offered them $500 3 years later to mark it payed in full and they did.

EDIT: but my credit score is is not so great so maybe you shouldn't listen to me.

Yes, I understand that. However, if John gets it marked "Paid in Full", it will still remain on his credit for years. He needs to get it removed entirely.

ok ... then offer them partial payment to remove it entirely, all they can do is say no.

It's already been arranged; it is being removed entirely as if it never was there (This was imperative to eating it)

My APR on a Fixed 30 is more important than $ 800.00

definately a good move ... it'd be nice to fight , but its one of thosr real world things where you have your whole family to think about.

Sucks you got sucker punched, but at least you took it for the team so to speak.

It's just a bizarre 'law'

DMV says I have released all Liability in 06/2003 ?

But companies can come after me since there has never been another registered owner since ?

Un -friggin -real Jack.

Getting off the original topic here, but John, IF AT ALL you can manage it, a 15 year is MUCHO better, in every which way. You probably know this already, but if not, check out this neat calculator; punch in some different terms, and see the results immediately; it's the best calculator out there, IMHO:
http://www.jeacle.ie/mortgage/
Check the diff between 15 and 30 year; it's insane!

I'm sure they would argue that you were liable (right word?) by saying that it was your resonsibilty to transfer the title, so that it was like you leased your car to this guy or let him borrow it, if you could prove that he ever existed.

you and your lawyer if it ever came to it would have to argue that you excersised reasonable care (and you'd be right)

But a person could say that they had sold there car but had a paperworl error when they hadn't, trying to get out of a bunch of tickets.

Now the mitigating factor in your circumstance is that you have the paperwork turned in with "unknown" as the new owner ... I mean is it really likely that you would have the forethought to pretend to sell your car and turn in paperwork just so you could park anywhere you want -- hell no that's stupid, but seems like they have you over a technicallity ... namely, if you don't own the car who does? (from their perspective at least)

Although ... my dad did get out of an expensive parking ticket that I got in his car while I was in highscool, buy saying "your honor I was at home having dinner with my wife at the time, I have no idea how the car got over there" and he said "dismissed"
but...
the judge went to out church
it was one ticket
it was a small town
oh ... and that's what he told us to say before we protested it when we dropped by his private law practice ... I'm sure that's must be illegal, lol, but again ... small town, my step dad was Football Coach (equivalent of judge or mayor in a small texas town), and the judge was a fan of my work on the highschool debate team ... crazy.

you just got caught in the system and it sucked

don't get me started on my uninsured 20K hospital bill that they claim I still owe 2k on after sending me a letter claiming that I was exempt from all fees and bills. That's been on my credit report for 2 years and I have some paralegals fighting it.

Reason 432 to leave CA

-

I had 6 different agents at the DMV tell me 'You will win if you bring this to court'

But thats the catch' Retaining fees 'aint' cheap

yeah i don't think there was a more cost effective, less time consuming way to beat this

you'd have to be a nut or a martyr to spend legal fees and blow your mortgage rate
