Unreal...I need someone to help with firmware

I'm not going to pretend I'm not computer savy. I am. So you can understand why I am pissed.

I have used search, read FAQ, and most of the pinned threads multiple times.

Still need help.

I have:

GF1
Firmware V. 1.23
S: fv0sc101204

So far, so good, right?

p.tools V. 3.51d
download firmware from panny site: v GF1__V12 (file says GF1_122 when extracted/loaded)

Save file. Increase increment filename by 1. (GF1_123.bin)

Save to MEM card in main directory (not folders)

Turn on GF1

click playback

...annnnnnd nothing.

Please point out how dumb I am as quickly as possible.

Thank you so much.

Pic related.

Hackable GF1's normally come with Panasonic firmware v1.22 installed. If your GF1 actually has v1.23, you will need to set PTool's "Version Increment" patch to 2 or higher. And whenever you create a patched version of the firmware in PTool, always keep "Prevent Version Compare" checked.

My first thought was the firmware number. lpowell's suggestion hopefully helps if that's the case. My second thought would be to make sure your camera battery is 100%. That's not something that is mentioned much anymore, but my camera won't do a firmware update without the battery being freshly charged.

Thank-you for the replies.

Question regarding this -

If your GF1 actually has v1.23, you will need to set PTool's "Version Increment" patch to 2 or higher.

----

So I would save modified firmware as GF1__124.bin (essentially just adding 2 to the GF1_122.bin)

This step along with the 100% battery charge I will do, although I was sure I was close to 100%

Why would my camera have a serial that works and a firmware of 1.23 that 'might' work. What a piss off.

No, the number in the file name is irrelevant. It is the "Version Increment" setting that should be 2 or higher.

Nothing still. Fully charged batt. Changed Version Increment to 2, nothing.

I'm stumped on stupid.

------

Is it possible for someone just to send me a test version of their GF1 firmware? Just to even see if it is me, or the camera not taking the firmware upgrade.

I press preview, nothing, every time. I've tried so many ways...

I am so frustrated...there is something I am missing.

Is it possible my SDHC card will not work for the firmware upgrade?

Version: 1.23

From what I read here, it seems a number of visitors may or tend to overlook some information when reading all the valuable (and complete) information.

1. You must use two underscores in the filename for the firmware: GH1__24.bin instead of GH1_24.bin
2. You may try formatting the SD card in the camera before writing the firmware to it
