Unlink Audio / Video

Making the transition to Premiere from FCP. I want to unlink all of my audio / video by default once they're in the timeline. I can't figure out how, though. I can do it clip by clip, but that's a lot of extra work when this should be a simple one click solution.

In the same boat, how do I drag just the video into a timeline and not bring the audio in. I always did this in FCP, but can't figure out what I need to turn on / off for Premiere to do this.

Thanks.

Well I don't know about "by default", but in the timeline you can do it easily:

* Control-A (command-A on mac?) to select all
* Right click - select "Unlink"

In the same boat, how do I drag just the video into a timeline and not bring the audio in.

* Double-click the clip in the "Project" window to open it in source monitor.
* In source monitor, there are little video and audio icons in the middle, just below the picture. Drag these to drag just the audio or video to the timeline (drag the picture to drag the whole clip).

While it's open in the source monitor is a good time to scrub through the clip to find the good bit, and set in and out points; then when you drag to timeline, you'll get just that section.

Hope this helps.

Unlinking and ungrouping are two different things.
Unlinking: unlinks, seperates the video from the audio
Ungrouping: disconnecting a bunch of clip (with or without video/audio) that were grouped together.
There in no shortcut for unlinking. There is for (un)group: shift+G and ctrl+shift+G
For linking a clip you will have to set your own KSC.

I think Craig (Shooter) has the best/fastes workflow.
