"unletterboxing" footage for UTube usage

If I shoot with orig DVX100 letterbox mode, 24p ....how do I post a proj on UTube or Vimeo that doesn't accept letterboxed sd footage, I really don't want to use 4x3 presentation if I can avoid it and would much rather stay in 16x9.

What are the simplest ways to do this . I have FCP6 but not After Effects.
Should I look into Instant HD by Red giant?

Proj not shot yet so my options are open. I could rent the anamorphic adapter, but it'll be shot in segments over time , and that'd be too pricy

Why don't shoot on squeeze mode?

edit: I have a dvx100B, I supose you have the original DVX as you said, forget what i said...

Ya only the 100A and beyond... have squeeze mode. I would say to just cop the image to a 16:9 frame by chopping off the bars on the top and bottom. You will have to chop off a little more though that what the letterboxing superimposes. To know what you will have after the crop, set your cam to normal aspect ratio and in the display settings, change it to 16:9. Then take some ND gel or scotch tape and put it on your LCD where the black bars are. Then change it to normal viewing and to letterbox so you can see that will still be visible.

Well I could simply shoot in letterbox 16x9 mode or full screen 4x3 as it amounts to the same thing.
My concern is how to best resize the footage for a 16x9 presentation.

I'm considering instant HD that uprezzes and resizes sd footage. Will give it a trial test and see.

Have never cropped FCP footage but that could work for web presentation I guess.

I'll make a 16:9 project in Final Cut, and then import your 4:3 footage and resize it by hand, no InstantHD needed.
