Units sold?

When it comes to automobiles, one can look up how many units were sold (ie.. 211,000 Firebirds sold in 1979).
Is there a way to see how many camera models were sold?
Panasonic sold XXXXX AG-DVX100B camcorders; Sony sold XXXXX NEX FS700R etc?

Obviously the manufacturers keep track of this but do they release any of it?

The pertinent info slips out occasionally. The rest often needs to be inferred from the publicly available data such as the industry units shipped, the individual company financials, market shares, Amazon sales rankings, etc.

Thanks DLD.
Why ask this?
Haven't you guys ever wondered, just how many AF100s did they sell?
How many C300s? A7s vs A7sii? JVC... etc?
It's not really important to us consumers, but interesting for several reasons. One of which would be to see how well received certain products were.

We sort of broached this on another thread, but I would love to know how many copies of certain cameras and pieces of gear were made/sold. How many tape VariCams? F65's? F35's? How many F900's? D600's, 400/400A's, 300/300A's.... TK-76's. Popular lenses like Fuji 13x4.5 and Canon 11x4.5.
