Undone Review of R5 and R6 Production Cams

Feels like we’re sliding towards a lack of any critical thinking....

That's because people are intellectually lazy IMO. (Too much passive participation watching TV. :)) It's less effort to take someone else's word for something. And conspiracy theories and belief in magic are the ultimate intellectual cop-out, unchanged in sophistication for thousands of years. The only "conspiracies" I believe in are board meetings and committee hearings.

Mentorship will always be useful. How could a person possibly rediscover everything that's already been discovered? But it only works if you interrogate and test the knowledge you receive from your mentor, and strive to surpass them and discover new things. My 2 cents

None of these sources should be the end of your learning process, but only the beginning

I wouldn’t....

Feels like we’re sliding towards a lack of any critical thinking....

In an era where information was supposed to liberate and free, it seems we still want to believe in magic and conspiracy theories, lead by mob and vigilante thinking...

Hmmm... not sure I agree. For sure on these boards, FB, social media, etc. and many many places on the internet - there sure is lots lacking in critical thinking and plenty of mob thinking. But step out in the real world and away from algorithms, I find just the opposite.

I actually find that dvxuser has a lot of critical thinking going on.

In the real world, I find that many people latch on to a simplistic thesis about how "the world works" and they interpret everything thus. It takes them 5-10 years to change their thesis in the face of conflicting evidence. But the problem is that no simple thesis can ever explain the complex dynamics of science and politics that shape history.

What sort of free thinkers and rationalists are you consorting with?

Societies, as a rule, have always been ruled by the mob ... but that drives us toward taboo topics.

Forums, especially sports related, can also be very herd driven. I find the DVXUser as well rounded as any forum I have participated in.

And it's great to have you and Charles p. Pappert dropping by too.

PS. A bit on "conspiracies". There's superficial analysis of something and there's deep, investigative analysis. One is your weekly high school assignment; the other is equal to a college term paper that allows the author to elaborate in much further detail. In the media, conspiracy is your opponent digging deeper. When you dig deep against someone else, you're only righteously investigating.

I don't think of people who challenge or don't agree with me stupid, low IQ etcetera. If they really are, it's better through their own words than mine. With Gerald, I like that he covers a lot of ground very fast. With Johnnie Behiri, it's more emotional and passionate, and I like that too. With Matthew, I like that he engages with his readers in the comments section. With Kai, I like the comic expressions. Chris and Jordan have a wonderful complimentary style.

Diagreement is fine as in intellectual engagement or even a spirited argument. But when it descends into ad hominem attacks, you often you find yourself engaged in a battle of wits with an unarmed opponent.

When you argue with a fool, he’s doing the same thing.

But a fool on the hill has the best views.

PS. After Mikhail Gorbachev announced the easing of the restrictions imposed on the Soviet culture in 1985-86, a very popular (and a very lovely) performer Lyudmila Senchina was allowed to record the Beatles cover. In English! Well, she gave it a good try but her English was mediocre at best and the song title/hook line sounded as "Full on the heel".

PPS. The Undone video is up to almost 100,000 views.
