Underwater

I have a client who wants some underwater footage (not the DVX) and wondered if anyone knows of an underwater video transmitter. The need would be to transmit video from an underwater camera to a receiver above water.

Anyone?

I've never seen such a thing. The only way images can be carried up is with way expensive gear like they use on deep dive exploration stuff.

the simplest cheapest thing is playback, I believe. they do make underwater housings with monitor - expensive.

I believe you will find that this is not feasible. To do RF underwater it has to be very low frequency to work. Low frequency = Low bandwidth, so no video. You will notice that underwater ROV's always use a cable to provide power as well as communications. There is a reason for this :)

I think your best bet is getting a housing for your video camera, or renting an ROV

There are housings with cable connections for controling the image from the boat but the easiest way is still a good briefing bevore diving or a good communication underwater between camera-man AND diving director with signs, notepads or electronic uw-communication systems. What is the reason that the director can't go diving together with the camera-man or what is the reason why such a direct interaction is needed?

i have hvx200 setup with waterhousing and have a trasmitter reciever but have only used for the director viewing. how deep are you thinking. could add a cable . just more $$$$ my rental stuff is at www.jetaddiction.com
