Underwater HVX 200 Questions

Does anyone have any information on using the HVX underwater?
I have a potential project with the camera, that will involve diving 70 to 80+ 150ft to 300ft meters. I am interested in any info on the best housing and any trade secrets that could make it a great experience.

I am looking at the Gates, is there any others out there that someone has used?

Can I use the FS100 if at all possible, our is there a seperate hard drive with the housings?

Thanks for any information that is made available!

Sounds interesting - but you're talking some serious diving there . . .

Just wondering if you're aware thats getting pretty outside the range of conventional SCUBA gear?? You're going to be looking at either hardhat or exotic mix -

Been years since I dug out the old dive tables but seem to recall that bottom time at 200 ft using straight air is about 6 min with 2 decompression stops . . .

Why do for real what you can fake a lot cheaper?

Thanks for the info I am a new diver and we are looking at a robotic camera for sure. I also checked out the dive charts and I am not even thinking about that depth without a robot or experienced diver.

I just need to know what I can do with the HVX in a housing and if anyone has done any work in similar conditions?

Hi, I can probably answer a lot of your questions on this. I have been filming and diving to over 100m for a number of years using mix gas closed circuit rebreathers and a custom camera system.

We are in final prototype for a Pro HVX camera housing system that will be good to 200m and have as standard high def 4.5" display, follow focus, manual control etc. Depending on when you are undertaking the work we may be able to help.

The Gates housing system is very good and it rated to 130m, but it uses mechanical manual controls which will be an issue for your ROV filming.
We can rig a remote surface based control system of all key controls.

The HVX underwater is probably the best "small" camera system and it gives amazing results (once set up correctly). We have also spent some time perfecting color grading for underwater footage shot deep underwater.

Thanks so much for the information, do you have any available footage for review?:-)
What part of the world do you live, I am in Florida and have a variety of scenarios to shoot with the Islands in my backyard.

I would love to keep in contact with you for more questions and possible collaboration. That is if this is not to forward a request?

No Problem,
We are based in Australia, but we always need an excuse to visit the Florida caves.
I am doing a shoot at the end of this month with the latest configuration of the housing, so would be happy for you to take a look at that.
Yep, lets stay in contact. Feel free to contact me off list: info@taras.com.au

Hi I've been shooting a whole bunch of stuff on rivers here in Oz.. and recently did a week with the Navy George Bass Surf Boat marathon... punching out news stories for the event.. all shot without a housing...

Would be very interested in your water housings...

Cheers
