Hi everyone,

Except for a vague german lead, I've searched and failed. So wondering if anyone else has heard anything before I start emailing the various UW companies...
It's make or break for my next project re possible camera selections...

Thanks for your time
Best

Weird, can't find it listed on their site, but it's popping up with other sellers...
Greatly appreciate the help...

AF100 ideas anyone??
Note I've contacted a supplier for a custom quote already and will post quote and link.

Pros and Cons of shooting with the AF100 underwater vs the Gh2.

I'm not aware of any housings for the af100 but if and when they do arrive to market I wouldn't speculate that they will be cheap.

A general rule of thumb with most professional grade housings is expect to pay as much or more for the housing than you did for the initial camera that goes inside.

With that rule in mind you will more than likely be able to buy a Gh2, a housing, hand grips, maybe an extra lens port, and a small underwater light kit for around the same price you would pay just for the af100's housing once one comes out.

Also if you have a catastrophic failure and your housing floods it'll be way cheaper to replace a GH2.

The only reason I would choose shooting underwater with the Af100 over the Gh2 is for the over-crank option on the Af100. Over-cranked surfing footage shot from the waves is awesome!

I just turned my hpx170 waterhousing into the af100 waterhousing .had to remove the top handle and i can,t use the knobs becauce they are in different places . once i get a remote start stop it will be easy to get some of the exsisting knobs working . this has been down to 70 ft in fiji and it has a glass port .hpx170 footage is in the trailer at www.80waves.ca

Hey Benniles, thanks for the direct link. I also greatly appreciate your input - the latest being ridiculously spot on in my situation.

It's cost vs the fact that YES, I will be shooting a significant amount of surfing in my feature and the over crank and under crank in 1080 is so very desirable.
Throw in the high quality output vs the fairly terrifying current work around for GH2, coupled with the general better usability of the AF100,
and it's the cam I REALLY want... but without a moderately priced housing... I just don't know how I'm going to stretch my budget to get there... Sigh.
You would suspect there will be some housings coming... and I'm currently waiting on a custom quote from Delmar, but I can't see it being too attractive an option price point wise though.
Love to be wrong.

However I used to make surfboards, so I'm considering getting an existing housing and modifying it... So I'll be looking to the below post with very keen interest later on tonight (my time).

Hi jetaddiction,

Is that the Equinox HD10 Underwater Housing you are referring to?

Thanks

Hi Lliam,

I am jumping in very late to this discussion. Which country are you based? I'm in Australia and have a housing made primarily for surf shooting for an AF102, hotrod PL and duclos/Tokina 11-16. If your over this way it is available for hire.

Cheers,

Mark
