Hi
On a tight budget and about to leave for a trip. Can anyone share their recommendation for a good incident light meter for cine use under $200? Does such a thing exist?

Sekonic L308 series. Still, flash and cinema modes. $233. I have the 308B which was about $170 when it came out, I think it's discontinued. Check eBay for used.

The version you need for cinema use is the L-308DC, which reads lux and footcandles directly. However, it's $279 at B&H -- a bit outside the OP's price range. Still, it's a great meter and I recommend it. You might be able to find one used for $200 or so.

If your budget is strict, the Sekonic L-398 may be the best you can do -- but that's an analog meter with a selenium cell. Still, as long as you're not working in extreme darkness, it will serve pretty well.
