Uncorrected Guerilla35 Grabs

I just got home from England so I couldn't help but grab my G35 and some lenses and shooting junk around the house. There's no color correction at all; it's all straight from camera (except the red stapler has color smoothing to get rid of edge artfacts.) I shot some handheld and focused on the LCD so it's not all tack sharp. All lenses are AI and pre-AI nikkors. Everything shot between f1.4 and f2.

Not such great subject matter but you can see how the highlights bloom and how the bokeh is great with good lenses (the 28mm f2 is a beast).

SHAMELESS PLUG: Want to use this for a weekend as well as a decent sized kit of lights (Arri, Lowel, Mole)? Help me shoot next Sunday in Boston. ( http://www.dvxuser.com/V6/showthread.php?p=897472#post897472 ) I'll even be your DP for your project with these if I have the time and I'm good.

god that bokeh is beautiful.... similar to the sgpro if my eyes dont trick me.

Gorgeous bokeh as usual from the G35. Why aren't all the adapters like this!

Would love to see this in combo with the lattitude from the Andromeda.

Great, so where can I order one?

God willing, I'll have some footage in motion that I can post this Monday...as well as the ability to sleep well for the first time in a month.

Mtech, the lenses are indeed pretty wonderful. I have a 28mm f2.0, 35mm f1.4, 50mm f1.4, and 85mm f1.8 and love them all, although the 35mm kind of sucks wide open. They were all pretty inexpensive, too, and each focal length definitely has a distinct feel.

It looks really soft. were you focused properly.

Also, Policar, do me a favor, one day when its nice and bright out side, even jsut out your window, stop the Nikon down to F 3.5, F4, F5.6, F8 Etc... and post the grabs, i wanna see how the G35 perfoms with the Lens stopped down. All anyone shoots is F1.2 with this thing.

I wasn't focused perfectly, no. I used the LCD as a guide and shot largely handheld. Final Cut Pro also softens images upon flipping.

Also, there's a reason everyone shoots at f1.2. (Well, I'd push it as far as f2, but not in all conditions). It gets static grain beyond f1.4. I'm certain the final version will fix this when (if) it comes out.

Ahh so it is like the Go35 then. Yea my go35 puts out like practically identical footage, but gets grainy at F 2.8 also. This is really limiting as far as wide angle and Telephoto lenses go. They usually are around F2.8

Interesting.

This problem can be solved with more diffusing GG, like one which would give you about 2-2.5 stops of light loss, it would work well beyond 2.8. The early beta Go35 was like that, it had less grain BUT it also produced soft pictures and that kind of light loss sucks quite badly. They say the final G35 will produce 2 stops of light loss so maybe they went with a lot more of diffusion.

Alternative diffusers would work well with these static adapters too, like with the Brevis.

Nope.

True, but it will also Vingette like CRAZY.

T, this clip with basically our brand new CF3 prototype. It's a vignette test with an F 3.5/5.3 28-200 zoom...and the lens is stopped down to f8. The frame you're seeing at the end of the clip is actually larger than a 24x36 frame.

So you can have great diffusion (very similar to wax), and no vignette using a cheap lens stopped down to f8 no less, and still have less than 1.5 stops lost. We were pleasantly surprised when a concept based purely on theory ( and worth an HVX or two in R&D investment) turned out this well. The first part of the clip is shot with the same imaging element, but using an S35 format LOMO lens (50mm). Diffusion and vignette are seperate issues altogether...contrary to popular opinion.

Policar can you please post some video?

If everything goes well tomorrow, I'll post some video in the next couple days.

Otherwise, I'll be crying myself to sleep for months on end.... So wish me luck.

Also, don't expect anything too amazing; other adapters have caught up in terms of bokeh, sharpness (general sharpness, less so with edge to edge), etc. I definitely lose some resolution and get some static grain no matter how I set up.

is it a moving solution. if its moving it istn an issue, so long as its vibrating the grain vanishes... The g35 and the Go35 are static adapters. if the test is in Static mode, then thats VERY impressive.

Me TOO! Same thing happens with my Go35 as well.

I definitely see grain in one shot in particular from the cinemek shots. Looks beautiful nonetheless, of course.
