Uncompressed idea - is this possible?

I understand that the analog video output of the DVX100 gives uncompressed footage. right?
If so, am I able to feed that analog signal on the set directly to a Canopus ADVC110 AD convertor, which sends a digital video signal to the laptop by firewire, to record that feed with Vegas? Or doest the 110 add the same kind of compression as the DVX100 does right before it writes the video to a mini-dv tape?
Looking forward to your insights!

the analog outs on the DVX100 are not uncompressed.
none of the other SD cameras in the DVX100 price range output unompressed analog either.

the HVX200 WILLhave an uncompressed output for HD..
maybe SD as well?
hope that helps.

Even if the DVX did offer uncompressed output, the Canopus device compresses it to DV anyway, so the net result would be (at best) the same, and in reality it wouldn't be as good as just sending the DVX firewire output to the laptop.

Okay guys, thanx for the answers. I'll stick to the normal material and keep using the tape device.
