GH2 Unable to hack GH2

I tried to figure this out as much as I can before going to the forums. But I'm doing something wrong. I used to have a GH1 which I've hacked successfully numerous times. But something isn't going well for me in my attempt to hack the GH2.

So here's what I did:

Prep:

1. Downloaded pTools 3.62D
2. Downloaded base firmware
3. Grabbed Driftwood patch

Process:

(I first preformatted the card in-camera)

1. I open pTools 3.62
2. I load base firmware.
3. I choose setting "B"
4. I save firmware as GH2_V11.bin (original GH2_V10.bin)
5. I load SD card with bin file in root directory.
6. I press playback button.
7. I get "No Valid Image to Display."

When I did the same thing with my GH1, I would get the prompt if I wanted to version up.

Any thoughts?

The filename has two underscores so GH2_V11.bin is wrong. the right one is GH2__V11.bin (notice the underscore seems longer? it's because there's two of them)

Ok, so I thought I solved it. but there's some variable I'm missing here. I'm pretty sure I'm doing the right steps because I did this a lot with my GH13. But after successfully flashing a new firmware. I wanted to revert back to a more modest stable hack for 720p60.

When I tried it this morning it didn't work.

Here's what I did to make it successfully flash the first time (though this method seems to be not working for me anymore):

1. reformat my card in camera
2. plug camera through USB in computer
3. start ptools
4. load firmware
5. load ini settings
6. save firmware in camera card (connected via usb)
7. press playback button. Nada.

The key difference between my old method and my new method (both of which don't work now) is that one method i use the SD slot in my macbook to transfer the file to the SD card. The other I plugged the camera through the USB to access the SD.

Any takes?

your point of cocern is the transfer via usb to camera. it has known issues corrupting the file during transfer. sure bet is sd to sd. test to rule that out. i never transfer via usb myself

that's actually what I was doing initially. SD slot to SD card on macbook pro. But it wouldn't work so i switch to USB to camera, then it worked. for one time. I tried it again and no go.

i would still recomend doing via sd to sd.

so you have eliminated correctly naming the file yeah? ie double underscore instead of one
eliminated leaving version increment to just 1?
correctly placing into root directory.

you should be able to still load that first patch file that worked eventhough its the same settings. does that still work for you?
