UPDATE: i now have a full resolution version up for grabs. many thanks to "holymexicobatman" for generously sharing his bandwidth....

720x480, h264, 103mb QT7 required. i don't have a way to make a .wmv so if anybody wants to take on the task let me know.

Here's the movie.

"Hide and Seek 720x480" - right click and save as...

so i really don't know what to call this. i really didn't have any sort of story or concept i was going for. i just always kind of see images in my head when i hear this song. so i shot some new footage and revived some old stuff and here ya go.

Uhhhhhhhhhhhh ?

How about Poetic ? I loved it. The imagery was very mellow and beautiful at that ! Well done ! (The song was kind of gay though; not that there's anything wrong with that)

HAHAHA!!! yeah, that tune is a guilty pleasure of mine. kind of new age and girly compared to what i normally listen to but as i said, i was inspired every time i heard it so i had to run with it.....

glad you liked it. thanks!!!

how did you get this expressionnist black&white with palm trees fading? is it a filter for the last one (the black mask around)?

Yeah, I agree, very poetic...
It held my attention the whole way through, usually I cut DVXuser vids off pretty fast, but this one was good... I could watch stuff like this all day.
You will be a great long-form filmmaker one day!

There were no bad shots.. the time lapse stuff was great.. dolly work was great.

Nice.. where's more??

Cheez,
I know the feeling. Sometimes you just want to edit stuff together as an expression of how a song or piece of music makes you feel.
Who is the artist?
Skaters are fun!!!!

some shots are fantastic. is it possible for you to post a bigger version?

i would love to. putfile has the 25mb limit and it's at 23mb now... any suggestions?

palm tree shot was the result of an unusually hazy day in long beach, ca (visibility was only like 50 feet), desaturation, and some diffusion ala magic bullet.

the beach shot at the end was also magic bullet for the old film look.

yeah, some songs you can just see it playing in your head.....

the artist is "imogen heap". she's like dido kinda. from the uk. found her on myspace but she has a record out in stores...

and yes, the skater rules!!!!

I can never listen to a Frou Frou song all the way through because I feel... feminine.

Great short, though, man.

That was Frou Frou, right?

EDIT:

Just read that it's not Frou Frou. You should change the thread name to "Poetic Short" or something along those lines. "Uhhh" doesn't do it justice.

Frou Frou is a collaborative effort while IMOGEN HEAP is the singer's name. This is a separate project from Frou Frou.

She is very talented, and you'll start hearing her works in a lot of films. There's a song specifically recorded for the Narnia Soundtrack heralding her lovely voice. It's the ending credits theme. As well, the song "HIDE AND SEEK" was heard on THE OC.

Didn't watch your video all the way through, though. Looked interesting, though.

Wow! I can't even begin to tell you how much I enjoyed that. You're edits are just totally awesome. It just goes to show that you can put a lot of effort into getting small amounts of great footage and, although unrelated ,and having talent in editing, can put together a story.....one that tells a story differently to every viewer. Just as in the art of the masters....they often let the viewer create their own story upon viewing the artwork.....that's what made them the "masters".

That was some great work. It felt very serene

serene huh? that's funny because my family and friends all got sad after seeing it. well i guess as marlene said above, it's a different story to everyone. i'm glad that it came out that way. the footage is so mixed up that there is no clear theme or obvious message. i was really just trying to reproduce the same type of images the song conjured up in my head. i'm glad that people are getting it and liking it. thanks for all the compliments from everyone. it really means a lot.

Dude, I dont even know where to start. If thats how life should be, then Id be in heaven. Perfect. All the way. Yeah, definately not the right title for the thread. I almost underestimated it but I am so glad that I watched it.
I thought it sounded like Frou Frou, and Im glad it turned out to be something related. If youre interested, I will pay you for a copy of that on DVD just so I can see it full screen.
Audio was perfect, shots were perfect, editing was perfect...... lemme know.
