mid-shoot, i heard what sounded like tearing, so i grabbed the camera by the handle. i then proceeded to inspect the strap, which then pulled right out of the casing. with two little tears in it, almost like teeth marks. i'm not sure how the strap hooks into the camera itself, but it seems like it was over-stressed and finally gave way. luckily it didn't give way onto the pavement.
has this ever happened to anyone before? i tend to load up my camera, one, sometimes two lavs, shotgun mic, sometimes a litepanels micro with w/4 AAs. it can be a heavy rig. perhaps too heavy for the hand strap? i have NEVER heard of people having a problem like this, googling turns up very little if any. must be a rare issue.
how do i go about repairing this? is it a certified repair center type deal, or is there a safe DIY solution?
