Sad news...I had to put down my dog last year so I feel for you. It really is like losing a family member.

i was there for his first game. when Uga V retired, they had a changing of the collars ceremony. it was really cool to see both bulldogs on the field and the father passing on the legacy to the young pup. he was only 1 year old when he became Uga VI. i'm looking forward to seeing who the seiler family chooses to succeed him.

Can you better explain the k9 hierarchy? I'm assuming Uga VI, is the sixth... and son to the fifth? Are they all the same lineage, or just those two? Did the 6th have a son?

I actually never knew about there being an 'actual' bulldog, and find this very interesting.

yes, they are from the same lineage. this wikipedia article should bring you up to speed. link

Uga V is the most famous, as he was on the cover of sports illustrated and was in the movie, "Midnight in the Garden of Good and Evil". but most importantly, he is known for trying to bite an auburn player in a legendary game we won in 4 overtimes.
 
Ah, thanks. Says the dog lived with the 'Seilers' (?) in Savannah... that's where I live! I apologize for not knowing more about GA teams.

Very cool life that dog had! Sure was a lucky one.

I'm an UGA fan too. When I was hoping to go to college, UGA was my choice. Even though, I didn't get to go, I sort of consider it "my" school, so I was saddened to hear about this.

RIP Uga
 
Probably had something to do with Fresno State winning the CWS. ;)

Just kidding. RIP Uga.
