Typical timeframe of firmware updates from Sony

The FS100 is my first Sony camera. How long do they usually take before they release a firmware update? Is it typically after the first year? And how often do they make subsequent updates (if at all)?

I know there's probably no information out there regarding the FS100 firmware specifically, but there's a number of small issues with the camera that we all know could be fixed via an update.

There's a firmware update scheduled. We know one of the included features will be the 24p option for PAL cameras. The timeframe could be this winter or early 2012.
