Two Questions about the HD100U

I am seriously considering either the HD100 or the HVX200.

The HVX comes to be much more expensive, but I really like the fact that no tapes are required. The HD100 has the option of recording to a hard drive. Has anyone done this yet, if so, how does this work?

Also, what Editing Systems support the HDV/24P setting? I know about Luminere HD, but how does that work?

The HD100 will be compatible with the Firestore FS-4 and the JVC branded version called the DR-HD100. Some people have used Fs-4 with HDV upgrade, but there have been some firmware issues. JVC is fixing their firmware to improve compatibility, so if you were to buy a new JVC HD100 as of next week it would be fully compatible.

Some NLE's on Windows fully support 720P24 HDV natively, and others require 3rd party software. Most fully support 720P30 HDV.
LumiereHD is one of the 3rd party applications that allows 720P24 and 720P25 to work with Final Cut Pro 5. Final Cut Pro 5 fully supports 720P30 natively.

Here is the link to the up-to-date NLE compatinility chart: http://www.jvcpro.co.uk/getResource?id=6131

Keep in mind that in about 6 weeks many of the NLE manufacterers will probably fully support 720P24 HDV. We just have to wait for NAB 2006 for th press releases to come out.

I figured Apple will include the follwing in Final Cut Pro 6, but I didn't know JVC stated it:

HDV/24P
HDV/24F (Canon)
HDV/30F (Canon)
1080i/24
