Hey everyone. I'm a lurker here, but the Old 97's are one of my favorite bands. I had contacted them about possibly doing a music video for the guys and they let me work on two for the Grand Theater Volume One. They are not getting an "official" release though, so I wanted to post them here right quick so you guys could take a gander (and maybe let me know what you think).

Hope you enjoy!

The first is for Beauty Marks: http://bit.ly/eE9aBV

And the second is for "Please Hold on while the train is moving" http://bit.ly/ev8CXF

Thanks guys!

Nice job. I think the use of a tripod, planned out shots, & creative use of timelapse gave the first video watchablility quality. I liked the cut aways for the bar shots as well as the blurry, unsteady, out of focus movement of street lights to mix it up too. I will say, however, certain shots needed lighting- particularly the shots of the man and the woman on the stairs, and perhaps of them in the booth (at the end). I feel like the timelapse could have been faster, and the acting of drinking shot after shot could have been spaced out farther (with a faster timelapse), but I think I got what you were going for.. as far as the story goes, I was confused a bit. Who was the girl to the guy? Why did he shun her? I guess I just needed a little more conflict for the climax and resolution, know? Overall, I liked the flow, the song, and the use of creative shots.

The second video had me going quite a bit more. I think it was because it was a much faster paced song, but I also liked how the action and cuts matched that precept. I liked the black and white interlude (as one of the comments had suggested), but I was unsure as to why you chose to make some of the shots smaller on the canvas (as it was). Was this to show multiple angles at once? If so, I like the idea, but I feel you could have done a better job; size and placement of those shots seemed, at times, kind of random. The color, action, framing, use of close-ups, b-roll, lighting, and banter between the band was very refreshing. I liked the second video better for that reason, although I liked the story (had it been a little better fleshed out) of the first.

Good job, on to the next one!
