two new letus ultimate short films

Somehow, Philip, you continue to capture reality in a way that shames my wildest imaginations. Siberia is fantastic.

Philip:

great stuff as always...I am an admirer of your work. Question for you...I notice that some shots are real crisp and others are softer. Are these shots having to do with No Adapter vs. Adapter? I prefer the soft look...which I get accused of all the the time I use my Letus...but then again..who cares as long as it look beautiful

Philip Bloom, you are a magician. For your next trick you will make 4500$ and my LEX disappear.

YEAH got stranded without letus one day... but i tried to match up as much as possible.

Is it just me or are all this guys 'short films' just a montage of pretty shots with some music... theres no plot...

I hope it is you. U don't need plot to tell a story.

Did you not learn anything about Siberian people or country from that?

Hoard - A "short film" does not need to follow the narrative structure in order be called a "short film".

Mm yes, but none of his have a plot...

Its hoarP by the way...

i have no desire to defend what i call my work. They are short films, some are narrative some are not. Confession is, My Autmums done come is, somme is. The others are studies on people, places, cultures. Mini docos. These do need a plot.

Dont get caught up in everything needs a plot. A good filmmaker can tell you much more in one single frame than in a page of script.

it is about looking at things differently.

the helicopter ones, and one of the bridge were ex1 stock lens ( All others the big wides were my 17-35mm nikon f2.8). Had two cameras with me

Philip they are beautiful and very inspiring, bravo!

From my experience as a film out facility, I notice same coring effect on the sharp edge of high contrast objects in same shoots, I thing that if you disable or make neutral the detail process on EX1 it would be much better the result. We suggest to our clients to remove any detail/sharpening processing during acquisition (since its a post process on the camera and not related to what the sensor sees) and we add the unsharp mask effect in after effect, that creates very fine detail and also it increases the micro contrast.

I don't know if this is not existing in the raw material but I can comment and advise in what I see in Vimeo.

Il be in touch...
