Two issues/questions with HVX

1) when holding down the mode button in order to allow the cam to offload p2 footage by firewire, after i do this i have to turn my camera off and then back on in order to get back to playback mode or back to the p2 menu. is this normal? my cam has always been like this so i don't know if it's supposed to do that

2) i am noticing in some of my footage there are little fine spots here and there that look as if there is dust on my lens, however i have cleaned my lens several times and it still happens. after closer examination (turning the iris down, etc) it seems to be sun/light glare but this also happens when it's not even that bright. i have a lens filter but still get this problem whenever there's a decent amount of lighting in the room/outside. does this happen to you? how do you avoid it?
 
i'll try with the lens filter off this saturday.

here's a couple of photos of what i'm talking about. look at the man's suit and you'll see two white dots.

the spots seem to be in different places and disappear depending on how the light hits the lens, etc.

if this still happens with the lens filter off what might the issue be?

again, i'll try it with the filter off this saturday during rehearsal
