1) does the DVX100B offer 48v Phantom Power?

2) Is the lens considered wide angle? is it the same wide angle as the HVX200?

yes and i am not sure, but its damn wide! seems to be wider than my xh A1. but not as much zoom.

The "yes" to phantom power is correct.

"Wide angle"? No, it's not considered wide though it does shoot a bit wider than a Sony PD-170.

For that reason there is a wide angle adapter available to purchase from several places which gives you a wider view. Especially helpful it very tight spaces.

Thanks...

I guess by "wide" I mean "Wider" than your average consumer camcorder.

Do you lose any auto functions (focus especially) when using a wide angle lens?

Which wide angle lens would you recommend? I have a budeget of around $400

There are several brands of wide angle adapters out there and they've been discussed here many times over the years.

No offense...just do a search and you'll see lots of details and suggestions about which is better for the money.

Your budget to buy one is easily within the price of several good models.

No, you do not lose any of the auto functions with the wide angle adapters for the DVX100 series.

The lens is a 32mm equivalent (in the 35mm world) and is quite wide. there is a Century .6x that comes in a $350 I believe.

Just remember that AF is going to be slow in 24p mode anyway, and I would highly recommend you stick with MF.
