TV Safe

I just got the DVX100b, and I love the fact that I can now see the full frame in my lcd and viewfinder, but I found there's a major downside to this. It's great if I am simply distributing on the web, but what if my output is for broadcast? How can I frame for TV safe? I realized in post that when I previewed on the monitor, my framing looked off and realized it was because I didn't leave any padding on the sides to be cut off. How can I get an accurate framing for TV out?

Use the DVX100a for that. :)

Seriously though, send an email to aspectcorrect.com and ask him to make an LCD overlay with TV-safe lines on it for the DVX100b.

I already contacted aspectcorrect about it.

Here is the response I got:

"Hi Bill,

Yes, I would love to develop a cling for this camera.

I have been swamped with a corporate project that has tied me up for
the
last 3 months...

I hope to be finished in the next two weeks and then I will try to do
this.

I will keep your email and contact you when I have done it...

Clay"

Noah,

I had the same concern when the DVX100b was released
No one else seemed to care:

Full frame viewing is great... when you have markers like pro viewfinders do.

Get some electrical tape, and cut thin strips and place these over the LCD?

Mmmm, nothing like having great electrical tape residue all over my LCD.

Thanks for hearing and trying to help my concern. I guess for now I'll output a TV safe diagram into the camera so that I can accurately draw TV safe lines on acetate over the LCD. Hopefully that guy at aspectcorrect can do something sooner than later. It seems like there should be a demand for the product, I'm surprised panasonic didn't build this in, its a simple software issue.

Well, you guys could try hitting up Ken, the ScreenSkins guy. He was first to market the original overlay for the DVX100, before AspectCorrect. Also, if anyone here is looking for DVX100a Aspect Correct's, I have about 10 of them in various Aspect's that I will never use because of the HVX200...

Clings for the DVX-100B

Clings for the DVX-100B

Hi Guys,

I just found this thread.

Yes, I do have the clings available for the 100B. They were available back in April.

Various clings for the HVX200 are also available now too...

How can we contact you? I didn't see any info on your websites. I have an urgent need for your overlay. I need to do a lot of on the fly shooting without a monitor. Leaving July 15. Thanks.

Scotch tape works better. You can see through it, yet still see the lines. Residue? Not usually. But then, you don't really have to take it off.

Won't the DVX-B run in both modes? Full frame and not full frame? Can't you just turn off full frame?
