TV Pilot "Hollywood Stunt Dummies"

The Gaboff Brothers, (Weplaycrazy.com) (HellaCrazy 1, 2, and 3) came out to Hollywood and the surrounding areas to shoot their pilot "Hollywood Stunt Dummies". These guys are crazy! They put together an 8 person crew of stunt people to actually recreate stunts from the Big Screen.

I responded to a Craiglist ad and with my experience in stunt work, I was asked to be Primary Camera on this shoot. We had a couple of smaller cameras and my HVX as the main.

Just think Jackass meets Mythbusters.

Without anymore wait, here's the result:

While I appreciate your opinion, could you elaborate on your opinion?

Stating it was a waste of your 10 minutes and leaving it at that was not that constructive.

Was it the subject (not in my control), the angles (some of it was my control), the format (outside my control)?

Again, I appreciate it was not your thing, but just leaving a comment like that does not fulfill the purpose of this forum. When you criticize, please do so constructively.

While I won't be as harsh as Andrew, it was a bit too Jackass-ish for me too. There is a reason Hollywood does stunts the way they do them, so that the people can walk off and work again. Those folks didn't seem to care about their safety, as long as they got their 10 minutes of Fame. But it is that kind of stuff that does get people killed, just like Vic Morrow and those 3 kids. But, the camera work was nice :)

Thanks, Capt. Believe me I tried to entice Miss Extreme to, well.....be a bit more candid with the camera and camera op (me). No dice.

There is a back story to the "Jackass-ishness": These guys know Steve-O, and if the series gets picked up, don't be surprised if he does a guest role or walk-on.

Hey, on the subject matter, I agree. Would I watch it if I had nothing to do with it?? Nope. I don't watch Jackass, either. But there is a huge market/demographic (which I am outside of) out there for this, and I gotta say, it was a lot of fun shooting it though, and getting paid as well. But the same could be said for soap operas, they ain't my cup of tea either, but there is a huge market for them too.

I love the shoulder rig/mount I have. It's not a steady cam, but it does a lot better on stabilizing the camera with the spring loaded support rod, than just being handheld.

My biggest problem, aside from the lack of boobage, is that stuff like that encourages stupid people to try it themselves. It doesn't say anything about special training, skills, or safety. In fact, it does the opposite, by blasting trained stunt people who do practice safety. Why not just teach people to shoot heroin and share needles?

Again, I know you had no control over content, you were just a camera op on a job.

And it was fun too. After the fourth time saying, "hey, what about using (insert safety gear here) on this. I would hate for someone to be killed", I gave up and just did my job. But believe me, the coordinator in me was cringing.

lol some guys are so serious its scary... you dont need to explain that actors cant do stunts cause they wont be able to finish the film ,but anyway if they really want to do stunts they should be last filmed scenes. We all know that anyways.
It was quite fun ,i hate jackass films ,its a waste of life for me but this one had some humour and i kinda enjoyed it.
