TV Logic VFM-056 5.6" HD LCD Monitor Group Buy

Not in the 1170. It's too small. I always run mine off of IDX bricks so the AC adapter stays home. I'm sure a larger case would suit with the adapter.

Ι am using a pelican 1300.

Taking middle foams out keeping just top and bottom original foams and using original foam from Tv logic's box fits perfectly.

Monitor is with bracket attached and over that there is enough space for manual , a big pro arm , 3 panasonic CGA-D54s bricks , a short hdmi ->mini hdmi , and a sunshade of course.

1300 is the perfect case for that monitor.

i've a small problem with this monitor, i just get it yesterday, and the peaking is weird. I'm not sure if i have done something wrong but, peaking level is around 50-60 and its's red, but all i got is just the red surrounding around the letters or numbers on the screen. What ever i do, it does not give me focused object on red color. I check with F3 LCD at the same time and it works perfect, but TV logic just have red lines around the letters, anyone experienced this?

Try turning red peaking up to 90. Shoot a resolution or back focus chart. Should have plenty of red lines on high to low frequency transitions.

special pricing update

special pricing update

Special pricing of $1350 is no longer available from AbelCine.

It is still available from Vidkey, and from Filmtools (where I just bought mine).

I am amazed at the breadth and variety of the monitor's exposure tools. The waveform can be expanded to full screen. There is a false-color mode with onscreen scale, and the exposure-to-color mapping can be quickly adjusted on the fly. The adjustability is very helpful when switching between Rec 709 and Log formats. There is also a zebra mode which can be adjusted on the fly. Plus a couple more-specific exposure tools. Panasonic, that sound you hear is your clock getting cleaned.

This sounds like the new firmware!

Worked a job today with my TV-logic 56WP alongside two DP6's w SDI and it just made me so glad I went with the TVlogic.

First and most importantly, the DP6 seemed to have some crazy looking dithering all over the image but especially in the shadows. Basically the image looked like it was covered in fine fixed dot patterns especially in solid colored areas. Fortunately this issue was much more mild than the terrible shadow banding issue on the old SmallHD DP1.

Also the TVlogic HDMI-SDI passthrough came in super handy, the DP6 cameras had to run ridiculous blackmagic+power rigs that went out a few times and didn't come with proper mounting.

Also, the factory default settings on the DP6 seemed super cranked up, with high saturation and contrast and we had no colorbars on the 7D's to try calibrate to nor did we have the time. On the other hand my TVlogic looks pretty natural right out of the box.

Doesn't the DP6 have a colorbar generator in it? I don't have mine next to me but I believe it does. Also, I know smallHD has made a lot of improvements with firmware changes, and that dithering (definitely seen in the shadows) was something they addressed (as I had asked them about it as well) and I don't see that anymore. It sounds to me like whoever was using the DP6 monitors just never took the time to update them and calibrate them properly. There is no doubt the TV-logic is a great panel as well, and has some features I wish the DP6 had (waveform), but the image quality on the DP6 after the updates is VERY nice to me.

Is anybody using this monitor with the GH2? I'm trying to use the SDI loop thru and it's not working. I just sent the monitor out for the new firmware update and it didn't help. I've been talking with an engineer at TV Logic and it's getting me nowhere...

This may be because the gh2 has such a bizarre cadence in the HDMI.

GH2 outputs 1080/60.00i. I don't know if TV Logic supports that mode. It's probably expecting 59.94i. Maybe it can display 60.00i, but not output 60.00i?

Do we know if there has been any firmware update released yet for the monitor. I have seen in the thread somone was refering to a 0.7 release but I have a hard time finding out what the latest official release version really is.

New firmware is released, I believe it's version 8, but the same as 7. Haven't tried the new firmware with a GH2, but my VFM-056WP didn't work with the GH2 using original firmware.
