Could I use my 25" TV as a monitor? With 16:9 mode, I saw it work at the shop on a 19" TV which provided the black bars, but will it work for a 16:9 adapter lens on a 25" 2 year old TV?

Re: TV as monitor.

I am using a 14 inch flat screen tv as my monitor only until I get a calibrated video monitor. I don't watch tv on the one I use for monitoring my video though. Technically, they tell you not to use a TV for monitoring because the TV has filters that enhances the look where as with a video monitor it doesn't have those filters and you will have a more accurate picture in terms of doing color correction and that sort of thing. I just did some color correction on my 14inch TV and it came out nice.

Re: TV as monitor.

One problem with a TV is that you have no underscan, which means you don't see the totality of what you shoot on screen (same as your DVX's LCD monitor).

This can lead you to have the mic in the frame without you noticing it until you digitize your tapes and start editing.

Re: TV as monitor.

The inaccuracy of the viewfinder is the only thing that really bugs me about this camera.... When I place something "just out of frame".... that's where I want it... perhaps I've gone as wide as I can without including the building or framed to the light stand and when I get home... THERE IT IS!!!....
This is definitely something that needs to be addressed in future models.
It's like the old Pro Nikon cameras with the true 100% viewfinder as opposed to the "consumer" models.
I've always been a "what you see is what you get" kinda guy... is it wrong to expect that from everyone else?....

Re: TV as monitor.

Hi, on a slightly different note....I have a Phillips Matchline 29" tv which has a progressive (480p) input (3 RCA Y-Pb-Pr). Am wondering how to get my new dvx100ae hooked in...Thanks!
