Turnpike Timelapse | A Dashboard Film

What do you do while making a boring, sleep-inducing, 7 hour drive from one end of Florida to the other???
Shoot a video! I put the Tokina 11-16 on, put the AF on the dash, hit record.

Shot this for fun/self entertainment driving to see family last Christmas, playing around with interval rates and shutter speeds (crazy stuff at end is 1/2 sec shutter).

Street lights of Orlando a bit blown out, I wasn't going into the menu to lower ISO at that point.

Now if I could only drive that fast...

Well, your video at least shows there is no many insects in that part of the world, you do that here in the tropics at night and your video would look like warp speed in a few minutes with all the insect smears in the windscreen LOL. It is great to see someone using the AF100 outside the "square" and above all just having fun with a great camera!! Enjoy life, enjoy Panasonic lol.

Ha ha! I've never heard anybody describe Florida as a bug-free place (4" flying cockroaches and clouds of mosquitoes, just as starters...)
We're about 100 miles from the Tropic of Cancer, but it was "winter", with fewer flying windshield smearers...

But yeah, it was fun making (or fun driving while making), thanks, and yeah, maybe I should add a warp speed smear???

7 hrs...uhm, not for me. I cant imagine driving that long at all. Certainly an interesting way to make use of the time. nice job.

How did you mount the camera on the dash? You must have been the only one obeying the speed limit if it took you seven hours. :-)

Cam's not mounted- if you look closely, in some shots you can see it sitting on a towel...

Miami - Tallahassee @ 72mph = 7 hrs, my days of 85-90 are over (truly one end to the other, Miami- Pensacola = 10- 11hrs, not including the FL Keys...)
Plus I drive a Prius and get 45+ mpg under 70 mph. But there were a few reflections of the dash display on the windshield...

Haven't been down there in a couple of years, but with the speed limit at 75 through a lot of the state you hardly find anyone driving less than 80.
