Hey guys! I'm new around these parts, and thought I'd quickly share my latest film shot on my DVX-100B! Please, let me know what you think. Let me know what you liked about it.. what you disliked.. where I could improve, etc. I'd love some constructive criticism.

Make sure to watch in 720P, HD! I upres'd my DVX-100B footage to HD for youtube playback.

Shot on: Panasonic DVX-100B
Cast: Drew Bartholowmew, McKade Nelson
Budget: $0.00. Shot for fun, with no planning done before hand.

Description: TURNING POINT was made with the intention of addressing the aspects of filmmaking that I'm either unfamiliar with, or haven't had much experience with. My main emphasis on this short were Special Effects, Color Correction, and Sound Design. All of which I had very limited experience with prior to shooting. I ran into my fair share of problems, but am pretty pleased with what we came up with. It's not perfect, that's for sure. But for what it's worth, I think it's entertaining at least.

TURNING POINT will be, more or less, a series/"run-on short film" - mainly for practice purposes, where I will continue to "test-out" and try to accomplish great new heights.

Part 2 will come soon. Next on the agenda: Dialogue/Writing.

Thanks for watching!

Great job. I especially appreciate your desire to learn by DOING!!! I've often admired painters and musicians for their easy access to create, whereas fillmmaking entails so much. However, it doesn't necessarily need to and can be kept to a minimum, as you did.

My only feedback is to generally avoid advertising "no planning done before hand."! LOL That usually biases your viewers negatively and really isn't important to mention regardless.

Keep it up!

Very very nice dude, being a huge fan of The Shield, I can tell you I love the camera moves. I'm quite curious on the setting you used. I'm shooting a short film too right now and I'm trying to create a 70's look, for the moment I was ok with what I have but not anymore after seing your flick ... But hell, how can your movie be on HD ????? Can you explain the process, did you use any specific lens or something ? Thank you and congrat !

I think is great too, but why do you break the axis so much at the beginnig?

Probably due to the "Shot for fun, with no planning done before hand" nature of the shoot. Sorry, I should let him answer that one. But anyway, I thought most shots looked somewhat overexposed. Also seemed too strobey (shutter speed too fast) for me, although that may have been the "Gladiator" look you were going for but in my opinion it's distracting and takes me out the of the story. Runnng though the field was very jumpy and made me a little seasick - if you could have stabilized the cam a little more it would have still conveyed the "franticness" without being hard to watch. Sorry for sounding so negative, just trying to help. Also, I'm kinda new here and I saw there is a "Screen Grab/Clips of DVX" section where people usually post their stuff. Did you mean to post this there? Nice job otherwise - the DVX does a good job with stuff like this!
