Turning on widescreen...

After a year of having my dvx I tried turning on 16:9 mode but wasnt sure how to do it... :-\

I went to Menu > camera setup > aspect conv > letter box mode but all it seemed to do was add the two black lines on top and bottom...

Is this correct? I thought there would be a physical button on the camera to do it like on a pd...

If it is the original DVX100 or the 100A, you cannot actually record 16:9, but on the 100B, there is squeeze mode which records a distorted image, but is then stretched out in your NLE to look normal and the end result is a 16:9 image. If you don't have the 100B, you can purchase an anamorphic lens adapter that distorts your image without the small amount of resolution lost.

just checked Barry's Book...the 100A has squeeze also.

I just borrowed my friend's 100A and it does have squeeze. Great feature!
