ok so i just got an hdtv that is 16:9. so anything that isnt shows up cropped. I shoot with a dvx100a. When i brun footage to dvd and play it on the tv, the image doesnt fill the screen. Is there anyway that i can uprez that footage to fill the screen to 16:9. I do have instant Hd but still havent gotten to familiar with it. Is there anyway i can do this. Thanks.

Actually, if this is more for simply seeing the full image on your TV, you should look into the aspect settings for your TV. They usually have settings such as "full" "zoom" "stretch" and "4:3". For an image sized down to fit your TV with black pillar boxes on the sides, look for the 4:3 option or whatever it's called on the specific brand.

I have a plasma and to avoid burn-in I just watch my 4:3 DVD movies in stretch mode. It makes everybody look a little squashed but I kinda get used to it.

If you actually want the video to be native to the TV's aspect ratio, then putting your video into a 16:9 timeline and meticulously reframing each shot would be one option, as you don't want to clip off the foreheads of too many people.

I am getting into the habit of always shooting 16:9 anamorphic simply because widescreen TVs are much more prevalent these days and any DVD player can letterbox a widescreen video to fit on an older TV.
