Hey. I'm a long time user of FCP7 and earlier versions. Just moved to Premiere Pro CS6 and I'm enjoying it. One of the few things that bugs me is audio while playing faster than real time (as in J, K, L). I like to play through a clip really fast to make sure that there was no intended cut (as in, my hand in front of the lens for a few seconds) and it's faster to just press L a few times to fast forward through it, rather than scrub through with the mouse. So if you haven't used FCP7 before, it handled this by playing a small blip of the audio as it went. So you weren't hearing all of the audio content, but it was at normal pitch. With Premiere, you're hearing all of the audio content, but at a fast pitch-- the faster you fast forward, the higher the pitch. That's the only way to accomplish playing all of the audio content. I find this incredibly annoying. It's like Alvin and the Chipmunks. And anyone around you who doesn't work with video is going to laugh and distract you asking why it sounds like that, etc.....
It's probably too much to hope for a preference to switch to the FCP way of doing it, but is there a way to just turn it off? So that there's just no audio playing when playing faster than real time? Or any other solution, other than muting each time?? Unchecking audio scrubbing in the preferences doesn't do it. That only applies to mouse scrubbing.
Thank you!
