Turin Brakes Music Video shot with AF-101

A great cover from one of my favourite bands of all time. People would do well to check out the original song. Spirit of Eden and Laughing Stock changed my musical world forever.

I love how well they maintained the core of the piece and how well you captured the changing moods of the music.

Wonderful work Philip. I especially found the locker/run-down opening location striking. Where do you find these places?

Edited by me: for clarity.

that little pink lens. lol . is that the little magic toy lens? What exactly is it? The name of it confuses me.

Great how music and video come together. Very nice. 95% Bloom+Crew+Turin Brakes and 5% AF100 :-). But I am sure the AF100 made his life a lot easier.

Hey, you used the toy lens! Sweet! What shots, and how did you like it?

I've thought about getting it, but I think I already have six 25mm lenses and am having a hard time justifying getting a seventh...

Here is a still from the Toy Lens:

Have you used it on the AF100? Or the GH2? In video mode? What do you think?

(man, I just know I"ll end up ordering it anyway... don't know why I bother asking...)

Barry, do you mean me?

>Or the GH2?

GF1 and stills only. Have to play more. But then with the Voigtlaender 25mm it maybe not used that often but nice effect:

Wow. Looks great. I think I'm just going to have to suck it up and get the 25/0.95. I've seen too much great footage through it. (And nice song).

I have that toy lens and I can actually pick out the scenes in the video. Great lens for the price. A no brainer. The only problem is that min focus distance is like 2.5 feet. Unlike the Voigtlander which is like 3 inches!

Sets/Locations look great.

Compositions and exposure make performances feel stifled and overall distracting, at least for me.

How's the raw footage look as far as resolved detail? Full screen on a larger monitor looks soft, but of course that's Vimeo upload.

Could you post a still from the Toy Lens at higher res?

Thanks for sharing.

toy lens is awesome. getting a 35mm from them too soon. Looks ludicrous on the camera but i could have shot the whole thing on it!! love it! doing a full blog post on the shoot with before and after grade images and bts video!

Have it. It is just fantastic. After the Voightlander I don't really want to even use other lenses (though I had to suck it up and buy the 7-14mm for an up coming project today).

The 25 f/0.95 is just beautiful in every way. It doesn't even breathe much.

Wow! that's fantastic. Great expressive lighting and great color grading. I'm really looking forward to the full blog post. Darn, that looks great!

Loved the images and the grade.

Song was a bit angsty and stressed sounding for my taste ( I think I'll go kill myself) .....but real nice job on the vid.

What word comes to mind when you see that toy lens on the AF100...?

Shrinkage.

You have to have a lot of confidence to rock that. Cool video, Philip. Thanks for sharing.
