Hi everyone

Well I've been using FCpro for a while now and got good at it(that's what i think anyways) and now I need to make the next step and start learning AVID.

One of the reasons I want to learn this software is because there's a production company here in town that wanted to hire me to edit their infomercials but once they knew I didn't edit on avid they let me go. THe owner of the company told me that if I learn how to use it they would hire me for sure.

There's a website called www.academicsuperstore.com where they sell the AVID MEDIA COMPOSER academic version for about 295.95 + free shipping. I think I'm going to buy it pretty soon but I'm not sure if this version has everything I need.

check it out and let me know:

Right now I'm using an old powerbook G4, 2gb ram, 120 gb, 1.67 Ghz. I will buy a newer machine pretty soon, I promise!

thanks for your help.....in advance.

This is a common story. Learn Avid it will double your chances for getting work. Check Our AVID.com they have an online tutorial series called ALEX.

you'll also find cold-calling post houses with Avids will not only land ya some good education... but often a gig as well.
Some of the best edit jobs I have had, I got by painting and hanging shelves.

The only thing with the with academic software is that you cannot make profit from it. But, it is the full version that will educate you completely.

If I buy a MOJO SDI and connect it to my Media Composer Academic, will it become Non Academic? When Can I make money with my Media Composer Academic?
