Hey everyone. I'm trying to use my HPX170 as a P2 card reader to transfer my footage on the P2 card onto my desktop computer hard drive using a USB 2.0 cable. I've tried installing the P2 driver on my computer but I get to a message that asks me to connect the P2 device (my HPX170) to the USB 2.0 port and then click "OK". Its already connected to the USB 2.0 port! And I have the camcorder on PC mode and it says USB Device Connected on the HPX170 LCD screen! But when I click "OK" on the message thing, it just beeps and keeps telling me to click "OK"! Can someone please tell me what I'm doing wrong? I'm running Vista 64 bit and I'm trying to install the Vista 64 bit P2 drivers.

Oh, and I tried installing the P2 driver anyway, without the HPX170 hooked up to my computer, and then restarted my computer but my computer still won't acknowledge that the HPX170 is hooked up to the USB 2.0 port afterwards! And none of the P2 drivers show up in the Device Manager! Help!

Have you set the camera's PC mode to USB? The default setting is Firewire, which won't work for you on PC.

In fact, you don't even have to install the drivers. I did a test (just to see what would happen in case I was ever stuck in a situation where I'd have to connect and didn't have drivers or an Internet connection) and it came right up and I was able to transfer footage.

I think Dick is right. If I'm not mistaken there has been a long running issue of Vista not working with P2...or at least not working in a friendly manner.

I know this is a pretty ancient thread, but I'm new to the site, and I'm having exactly the same problem. The only difference is that I'm running on Windows 7 (64bit). Please help!
