trying to sell my hmc-40

I'm trying to sell my HMC-40 so if anyone is interested please let me know. The cam is in perfect condition, not one scratch or anything. This camera is pitiful at shooting in low light, which really bugs me. I'm trying to buy a 7D instead. I live in Austin, TX just so you know.

how long ago did you buy this camera?

hmm, i'm surprised you didn't know the low light performance of this baby...

also, i think the low light performance of this camera is perfect for its price...

I took my to a local dealer with whom I've had a good long standing relationship and got most of my money back. The HMC-40 is a good inexpensive camcorder but it is not my kind of cam I found out. The low light performance is worse than words can describe and slowly I found that it was a constant battle that I was not willing to fight. But it is more than that. The LCD is something that is inadequate to the task of focusing and should not be on a Cam of any sort in 2010.

I had the Canon MKii and sold it due to its limitations with sound, but as my jobs have developed I find that DSLR video is working out fine - better than this inexpensive cam which is still overpriced compared to the new way - DSLR shooting.

I myself bought the Panasonic GH1 and a GF1 for what I sold the HMC-40 and two lights for. I know there will be many shortcomings in this setup as well, but for me personally those are the kind that work better.

Good luck. Yes the HMC-40 was a good outing for Panasonic. Many people are very happy with it but I think that the ground is changing under Camcorder makers feet and the new products in a year or two will merge todays camcorders with progress from the infant DSLR upstarts and it will result in a quick improvement in hardware soon. I will be back to these more traditional camcorders then. No regrets about the HMC-40 though. It was to me the latest of the dinosaur age.

Nervtubeprobductions,
I might be interested in your camcorder. I used to live in Austin but now live in Dallas.
PM was sent yesterday.
Thanks,
Mctigre
