Trying to decide where to buy - cheapest place?

Hey guys. So I am hyped because I am finally ready to order my camera, and I need it for my upcoming short, but I am still having trouble deciding where to buy from. My dilemma is that really all I can afford is about 2500 and while I know that 200 bucks that the more reputable companies are charging does not seem like a lot more, It is to me right now because I need every last chunk of change I can get to spend on other things and technically I still need a bit more $ until I have enough to get the rest of the things in my production "kit".

So obviously there are a lot of shady, grey market, bait switch companies out there but the way I look at it, If I get a camera that works, by the time I need it, and I have gotten extra accessories that they all include in their packages plus still saved money over the USA msrp, well then I think that might just be worth it/a good deal. So basically I am trying to find the "best" of the shady companies. I found out from Canon that all of these cameras are manufactured in Taiwan, China or Japan (might have forgotten one), and that unlike many other cameras, ALL the 5dmark ii's are pretty much the same and identical to the model name. The guy on the phone at canon told me that the ONLY difference between a gray market cam would be that it would not have a USA warranty card. So has anyone bought one of these cameras from a place like this? I am thinking about buying from a place called time2envy. This paclage to be exact: http://cgi.ebay.com/Canon-EOS-5D-MA...id=p4634.c0.m14.l1262&_trkparms=|293:1|294:30

I guess I would just like to hear you guys' thoughts on this. Also, if there is a reputable place I can buy one for less than 2700 than let me know. I know It was possible using a combination of 2 promotions to get the price down to 2500 at best buy a while ago. Man I wish that was still possible. Anything like that going on? Also, if you know of a site that sells gray market cameras that is still trustworthy that would be nice to find out too. I mean if some of these sites just told people their cameras were from other countries but still maintained the same level of customer service as other companies I think they would get a lot more business. Any sites like that? Thanks.

You don't have sufficient budget to own the 5D MKII. Period.

1. Extra batteries
2. Lenses
3. CF cards
4. Camera case
5. Tripod
6. ND Filters

You need to buy a much cheaper camera. People who can really afford a 5D MKII have about $5,000.00 to $8,000.00

You don't buy cameras, you buy a production system. Without all of the components, you will not have the tools to make professional quality video.

it's quite scary how accurate that 5k figure is. Lol.

But I think he's talking about for the body. Me recalls Entity already had glass and some other stuff?

At least I hope he's talking about the body only.

Yeah yeah yeah. I have around $5,500. I meant that I still needed a bit to get everything that I outlined/plan on getting. Sorry if that wasn't clear. Unfortunately my shoot is coming up so I just have to get what I can now. I also have connections for lights. And honestly 6k isn't a lot for a package considering that for now I am getting a cheaper follow focus/ mattebox, and I am getting one of those variable nd filters instead of proper ones. I also have to stick with a 503hdv head for now which I suppose is ok, but anyways, back on subject.

This is 1000% Correct!

Even on the cheap you're looking at nearly $5000!

And this doesn't include archiving and editing footage!

Well right now they have it at $3,400 for the body alone!!! So I don't know what you saw, but I need to order today and it looks like I am going to go with time2envy unless one of you knows a place CURRENTLY selling it for that price.

Amazon is currently:

just bought at Adorama, their price on Mack ext warranty is fair, its a must have, used it on my V1 and they replaced circuit board, new ccd block, could have cost thousands without it,
