MUSIC VIDEO: Trying not to make the most boring music video ever...

Hi all,

Since some of you seemed interested in my previous music video (http://www.dvxuser.com/V6/showthread.php?258271-H2O-Shot-with-the-Pana-AJ-HPX2700-Heavy-Post), here's another one I directed, hoping you'll find it of interest…

The challenge with this one was : How can I make it NOT boring ??
Indeed, there are only two guys in this electro-jazz band : One playing the saxophone and a drummer. And that's it. No singer (it's an instrumental piece), no sexy dancer, and most of all (as usual) : No budget.

Also, icing on the cake, jazz musicians are not the most visually exciting. A heavy metal drummer may be fun to shoot, as he'll literally hit the hell out of his drums, but a jazz drummer hardly moves, and I had to pressure the guys relentlessly in order to have something for my camera to chew on.

Ok, so you tell me : Is this boring, or did I manage to get something out of this visual emptiness…?

Yes, you did make it not boring with the nice experimental expressive visuals.

Considering a jazz band will have a more mature and non-ADD audience, the viewer may well enjoy the video and consider it goes well with the music.

That's awesome!

Pietro,
I never thought of the non-ADD audience issue, but you may have a point indeed.
Thank you very much for your comments!

Hi,

as with the H2O video before, you´ve demostrated that you´ve got a great grasp of color and composition. you really know what you´re doing in camera and your expertise in post-production only makes your videos even stronger. Beautiful work. Not boring at all to my eyes and ears.

Cheers,
Thorsten
