Trouble mounting Glidecam 4000 with 577 onto my HVX

So I bought a Glidecam 4000 for my DV cam and got the Bogen 577 quick release plate so that I can quickly go from the Glide to the Tripod without too much grief. I recently upgraded to an HVX and I am realizing that I cannot lock the plate down because the tightening lever either hits the bottom of the camera or the top of the Glidecam plate, restricting the tightening process.

Has anyone run into this or have any ideas for me. The only thing I can think of is to place a spacer or a shim to create more space either between the glidecam and quick relase (preferred) or the plate and the camera to allow clearence.

Any other ideas or places where I could get such an item?

You could try using an allen key to loosen the locking lever and roatating the actual lever aorund to a better position to see if you can get clearance when you tighten it.
Otherwise your only other option is to raise the plate off the stage, which makes for a heavier or longer rig, and adds more posibilty for vibration.

Maybe I'm not doing it right, but I can only seem to get 45 degrees of tighening on the 577 on either side of the camera...not enough to fully lock down the plate. Is that all you are getting as far as the amount of rotation?

Also, my 577 is in the middle of the stage, which is where it seems to make the most sence to me to place it, but maybe that is where I doing something wrong.

Unfortunaly I dont' have a Manfrotto plate on hand to test this personally right now, sorry. But I have come across the problem before with tt level hitting the camera - a poor design in my opinion.

Is there any sort of trim (perhaps on teh other side of the plate) to make the clamp tighter?

I'm having the same problem. I can get it to tighten down enough to where I'm ok using it, but it kinda takes the "quick" out of the "quick release adapter", although still faster than not using the adapter. I think some shims would do the trick, but I wish somebody was making something specific for this application. I'd imagine some sort of metal shim would be ideal, so as it can be locked in tight and help prevent any vibration. If I come up with anything worth sharing I'll let you know.
