Trouble Makeing DVD's

OK I did do a search for this, but I couldnt find just what I need, sorry.

Heres my problem, I need to know what I need to do to make a DVD, treat me like I dont have any idea what I'm doing.

I'm useing Avid to export in various formats but when I try to burn it my disks are skipping on a regular dvd player, but I dont think its the burner or the player because when I copy a dvd it works perfectly.

I'm Useing DVD Santa to make the disks wich gives me better results then anything else I've tried but I'm still getting the skipping.

What can I do? Is there any software that will simply take a quicktime refrence file and do the required conversions? Or is there a better format to use from avid express pro? (no mpg2 option)

Thankyou in advance, working on PC by the way

did your avid come with sorenson and sonic reel dvd. use that to squeeze and burn. i used to use them but now i have a dvd recorder and record from the timeline.

Sadly no, I have the student version and didnt know I would be missing out on so much. =(

I did figure out what was wrong though, in case anyone else runs into this. I set the data rate on the burn slightly lower and suddenly it was working fine!

Thanks
