Trouble loading scene files

I just can't seem to get this right. I read a lot of dvxuser and have never had to post because I can usually find my answer by searching, but I now need help. I have read the manual and I even have Barry's great book, and I have done what I think needs to be done to write new scene files (Barry's scene files), but I am doing something wrong.

Here is what I have done:
I formatted a new SDHC card. Copied the "PRIVATE" directory from the CD companion from Barry's book (using the US HMC150P version) to the card. So now on the card is PRIVATE/MEIGROUP/PAVCN/SBG/P2SD/SCENE1.TXT etc,.

Then I placed the card back in the camera, went to the menu and selected: Scene File/Card Read-Write and selected WRITE. Once I selected WRITE I see the 4 FILE slots and they already have the names that Barry gave them (EXTREMES, FILM LK1, FILM LK2, FLIM LK3). I highlighted FILE1 EXTREMES and pressed ENTER. It then took me to the TITLE screen to change the name. The name is fine as EXTREMES, so I just pressed ENTER, then I selected YES from the next menu, which says "FILE 1 EXTREMES write?" The camera then states that the FILE 1 EXTREMES WRITE completed.

Then I do need to READ the scene files?

I have gone through this several times and must be missing something. Do I have the procedure wrong? Thanks for any help.

Mark

EDIT: It is now working as it should. I just kept doing the same procedure and it finally worked. All is good with the HMC150.

Once you have the scene files on the card, you need to "read" the appropriate file (SCENE1.TXT, SCENE2.TXT, ect...) to load the 6 preset looks onto the wheel. By reading the scene file, you are loading the 6 "looks" onto the wheel that correspond to F1, F2, F3 ect...

You can load up to 4 scene files on the SDHC card, and have 6 looks on the wheel at any given time.

Right, what you're doing is overwriting the scene files that you've copied from the CD. You want to "read" them from the card, not "write" them to the card...

Barry, been reading your book.....so useful- thank you. I have been trying to search the forum here but they must be having issues....getting errors. I used your scene files all weekend and I am still trying to get a handle on everything. If I want to go back to the factory scene file, what is the procedure? In your book you mentioned just going to initialize and you will get back to the default file but when I do that I still see the last loaded files from your set. The only way that I can go back is by switching SDCH cards and loading from a newly formatted card. I know I am missing something. Thanks again for such a great book!
