Trouble getting started.

I want to do my first animated short, between 30 secs and 1 min.
I've never had a problem coming up with ideas before, until now. :huh:

I guess I need to define a location, a character (human, animal or object), a
purpose which would probably be a series of conflicts that results in humour, and finally an ending.

Something like this would get me rolling...
"A big frog in a small pond gets into trouble when a newcomer arrives."

I've thought about a guy who buys a new DVD and for various reasons can't get it working in his player, but I'm putting that aside for now.

So, any simple outlines like the above that pop into your head?
I'm twiddling my thumbs.

Not a hoooool lot of story there. Let's see, he's a little monster, is addicted to posting , like Penguin having 20 links running at a time, and...I'm stuck again.

Well, lets' play with this for a sec. Make him a skinny kid moster.
His conflict is being skinny and trying to gain weight to be muscular maybe?
Maybe it's his diet that leads to humour?
He can eat trucks, trees, ect...
Well that's more than I had a min ago I guess.

Yeah that sounds like an idea with a bit of work. Conflict is the damn keeps falling apart for for reason,
people or something upstream, ect.

//problem there is in rendering the water scenes. Rather avoid that as much as possible.

Some how before I even found this thread I got dragged into it. Am I seriously the only one who has a browser open that is full of tabs of DVXUser threads that I want to go through?

Here is an idea for you:

"A disgruntled card board box, tired of making a dismal living selling sno-cones, moves to Hollywood to make it big. After an unexpected rainstorm (isn't it supposed to always be sunny in California?) Boxy is left to die, but will two pimps and a polar bear be able to save him?"*

I'm telling you, pure gold! :thumbsup:








*That will be $500 plus 5% of any and all earnings, past, present and future, gained because of this idea.

I like that idea... have him going to the gym and all these huge behemoth dudes running around benching 800 pounds with the bar bending...

And he benches 30 pounds... can hardly do it...

Then he gets some wonder pill and starts doing it...

And then.... and then... hmm...
 
Here's something to chew on: I was watching a robbin in my yard the other day....he (she..tough to tell) would hop around the yard...suddenly it would peck into the ground and start to pull a worm out of the ground...everytime it would get one completely out, another bird (a blackbird) would swoop in and steal it. This happened 3 times in a row!

In my mind, on the 4th attempt, I see the robbin reaching in the ground and pulling up an electrical wire...the blackbird swoops in...and POOF!

...Just an idea... might be cute...

Man, I was visualizing along and I laughed. I think that's the one.
Funny stuff and simple story. So, now that it's posted, you have the copyright, right? So, I'm going to take a shot at it.

If you actually want to develop the story further, send a PM and well go from there.

You guys do know that I was serious right...? You don't have to just ignor my post like every other ridiculous, BS-laden post I write. That idea could be sold, man, and I'm giving it up for free!

Yep, sorry Penguin. I was running the box idea through my head, seriously, then I read zaza's. The box idea has possibilites but zaza's to me just nailed it for what I was looking for.

That was some creative spontanious thinking though, I have to admit.

Don't worry about it man, I was half kidding anyway. Yes that was a fine example of improv scenario making, if I don't say so myself, but in no way did I expect you to actually make it. You know me, always looking for a laugh. Besides, I like ZaZa's idea a lot; it's prefect. Simple. Funny. Entertaining.

I can't wait to see it!

EDIT: By the way, I see you copped out on that 1000th post video. Tsk, tsk.

Just one off topic.

I remember Avril Levigne being interviewd on Much Music and was being question about her popularity. She was mentioning how when she walks around people yell at her, and right during that, I guy across the street yells "YOU SUCK". They both look over and Avril gives a little laugh and a head shake and sais something like, "see what I mean?".

Yes I did. My hair is major long right now, so when I get it cut and look semi presentable I'll try and post a vid. Well, that and the fact that I don't honestly believe anyone gives a damn whether I post one or not. :)

But I thought about it. Big sigh...well see.

Yeah, well, no one cared about mine either. Well, a limited number of people did, but that's okay I still had a good time.
