Trouble Getting Started (Importing/Playing MXF)

I'm a newbie. Just got an IMAC and FCP. I have an HVX205a.

I installed the p2 driver cd that came with the camera onto my Mac. I hooked up my camera to the Mac via usb 2.0 but FCP could not import the files. I tried saving the p2 files onto the desktop but that didn't work either.

Is there some type of codec I need to install in order for FCP to recognize/import/play MXF files? Or do I need to download some other software?

Obviously, I'm lost and in dire need of help. Any input from anyone to help me get a basic workflow going would be greatly appreciated.

Which iMac with what OS and what version of FCP . . . to start with.

We need information to assist because we can't look over your shoulder.

Help us out please. And again, you don't import. You log and transfer as NK indicates.
 
Thanks guys. I got FCP to play the MXF files. I had gone to log and transfer but the files originally weren't being imported because I was clicking on the individual MXF files. Then I tried to import the Contents folder as a whole into the log and transfer window and it worked.

Appreciate the help!
