Trouble capturing

I just bought a used DVX off ebay and everything seems great.
For some reason I can't capture footage when I use teh Panasonic as a deck.

I'm using a G5, Final Cut Pro HD 4.5, Firewire NTSC, DV NTSC 48 khz
When I "batch capture" a few clips, the camera tries to rewind, but then freezes or goes back and forth trying to find the tiimecode. It then stops and says "timecode break, or end of tape". I don't think there is a timecode break and its definitely not the end of the tape.
I can't figure out what is wrong.
Any suggestions?
Thanks
Gerry

trty setting your in point a few seconds ahead and set your out a few seconds back and if that doesnt work try a "capture now" but make sure that footage is playing

I had a similar problem with some "interview" footage I was given that was shot on another camera. It seemed like it was full of timecode breaks and I couldn't get it into FCP. This probably isn't an option for you but what I did was play the tape out to my Quickcapture unit and it worked perfectly. If you have access to a Quickcapture (by nNovia) or perhaps a Firestore you might be able to do the same. :)

I am having the same problem batch capturing footage shot on a friend's DVX-100a on my own DVX-100a. Its fast forwarding and rewinding, stuck in the same place, then aborts. I don't think its timecode breaks. The camera keeps switching between the TC on the tape and the internal timecode it has generated and can't reconcile the two.

I have never had this problem before. I have never batch captured as I was logging with this camera, but I have used batch capture during the upresing process from an offlineRT edit and I didn't have this problem.

If I put the playhead within a few seconds of the clip, it works, but that defeats the whole point of batch capturing.

Is there a way to shut off the internal TC generator while capturing? Am I on the wrong track?
