Playing about with my friends who have a dodgeball team. Wanted to promote the team a little in the style of Tron Legacy (without Disney's budget, of course).
Shot with a 35mm & 80mm square front Lomo anamorphic lenses on the GH2:
this was funny, Loved the junk shot. haha, wasn't expecting that. good work. Can you elaborate a bit on the lomo anamorphic setup, interested in setting up for anamorphic, just need to know exactly what to get. I imagine the lens of course, and some sort of mount? whats the post workflow like? does it shoot it squeezed, and you unsqueeze it in post? sorry for all the questions, just loved the look of this. thanks
Get a lomo lens (mine are in OCT 19 mount) and an oct-19 mount adapter. Theres a great one for the GH2 on ebay for $400, and you can also get an OCT-19 to Canon EOS, but only the round front lomos will work since they have shorter rear elements. Also be prepared to go into much credit debt.
Go into FCP distort -100 (since these are 2x lenses) and either leave it in the super wide 3:56 ratio or matte and crop the sides to blow up to 2:40.
Now the challenge is to find a lens in decent quality. I recommend rafcamera.com, I bought my 50mm roundfront from him. I think he has another one for sale now.
+1 for Rafael, he is great...I also got a lens from ebay user scopeflare and jeecoo (or jecoo?) and can vouch for them. I bought my 35mm squarefront from Ken Rich lomo235.com, and cineused.com and it's ok. He seems to have alot of irons in the fire though, and it took more than a week (and many phone calls) after I paid him to ship it out. He lists them as $1500 on his site, and I got mine for $1200 bucks. It seems like he has a few 35mm and 50mm's on hand, but buyer beware it might not be the smoothest process dealing with him.
A bit neutral from me about jeccoo... I bought a Lomo prime from him OK, but the square front he sold me was actually damaged. It's a minor but jarring problem and he failed to mention that at all, So yeah, ask him first if it's DAMAGED!
RE: Monitoring... it's best to use SmallHD or the new Zacuto EVF that have anamorphic functions. If not, you'll only have a skewed image to monitor. A bit uncomfortable at first but you'll get used to it
