What tripod do you find works best with the 5D2? Good flexibility, ball bead for balancing, stands tall, low mode, quick release, doesn't need to hold 30 lbs!

I researched this to death. There are so many opinions on this matter.

The comment thread I found was that for any kind of HD work you need a good fluid head system, a bowl and great sticks. There are super cheap systems that you could take hiking for under $500 but you are working with major compromises. The $500 - $1100 range is sort of "no-man's land", you spend what seems like a lot but you will in the end feel disappointed. The real action starts around $1400. If you have the money get the Sachtler FSB-6 which will set you back around $1700. Libec makes some affordable systems like the LS22 and the LS55.

In the end I went this 2-stage Miller system:http://www.bhphotovideo.com/c/product/284154-REG/Miller_832_DS_10_Aluminum_Tripod_System.html

It works great for all my lenses except the 400/2.8.

Hope this helps...
