Tripods for a DVX

it's as simple as the old saying. You get what you pay for.

I personally HATE those impact tripods. They aren't anywhere close to being a fluid head and you can't even make proper drag adjustments on the pan and tilt.

I recommend no less than a bogen 503 head, but absolutely nothing less than a bogen 501.

I have the 503 and often find myself wishing I had a better tripod head.

The impact will support the camera and will do just fine for static shots, but you will find yourself wishing for more on pans and moves.

I don't wanna spend more than a few hundred for a tripod since it'd just be used for a DVX-100B

$2500 is a lot of money to some people. I'd feel a lot more secure knowing my $2500 camera was well supported. As ef03 pointed out, unless you are never leaving the house and never planning on moving the camera, then that tripod is perfect. As long as it supports the weight of the camera (which it does) then it will work fine with the DVX.

Maybe you don't need a $2000+ Sachtler setup, but I'd think you would want something that will at least hold up to daily shooting and make the most out of the camera that rests on top of it.

Just my 2c.

I recommend a Manfrotto tripod...their sturdy and have a nice fluid head....real easy, smooth panning. look them up at B&H.
