I need to get a new Tripod for the NX1. Any thoughts for a good one that gives smooth movement and also light to carry?

Light to carry, and smooth & stable tends to be a compromise we have to make. I have several lighter tripod/heads, but my smoothest and most stable is my Oconnor 1030 which is a little heavier. If it were me, and I were not ever going to need to carry a heavy load, I would likely shop for something along the lines of a used Oconnor 515 or Ultimate DV with 35L or Gitzo GT3541LS sticks.

I've got one of these. It's compact but not light in the sense you'd want to backpack it, good for limited luggage space. Stable and smooth for slow pans, the lack of variable drag is a drag.

I use a Nikon D5100, similar in size and weight to the NX1. My tripod is a Manfrotto 3011N with Bogen 3126 fluid head. The tripod is aluminum and very strong. The head is incredibly smooth and will last forever.

Best part is you can get this set up, and others virtually identical (slightly different legs) for $50 - $100 on ebay. More if you want to pay it. I just got another one of the heads for my camera slider. I paid $10 for it. They are $65 or more new.

Here's one (tripod with head) very similar on ebay now, currently at $40.
