Hiya folks,
So, we have a manfrotto 503 and a vinten pro 5. we are doing a shoot in india so need some lightweight legs rather than the regular heavy duty legs that come standard with those heads. the question is how easy is it to remove the heads and put them on lightweight legs ? and if it is that easy and you are familiar with doing that, what legs can you recommend (bar tall,tanned and hair free) ?

I have the 503HD on a Gitzo 2531... and guaranteed to be tall, tanned and smooth! Unscrew the half ball rod, you'll find three flathead screws underneath that will loosen the half ball from the head itself. The lighter tripods such as the Gitzo and Manfrotto 055CXV3 CF legs (which both have the center column) have 3/8" head mount thread size that will fit the 503; and is secured as well with three additional tension screws.
