The popular thing to talk about seems to be shoulder mounts but I'm curious on some recommendations for fluid tripods for video with a dslr. I'm looking for a recommendation for a fluid tripod under $300 as well as a tripod around $1,000. What are the differences, and is it worth it to spend the money on the latter. Thank you.

Tripod discussions are just as popular ~_^

BUT!

A good starter tripod would be the Bescor. It's under $200 and the included Fluid Head is decent. The head is fluid, and doesn't jerk whatsoever, it just doesn't support moderately weighted rigs. I have it as my secondary tripod.

As far as tripods that cost $1k plus, I wouldn't know - I don't own one.
