Tripod question

I looking to get a "REAL" tripod. Under $500. I just wanted to see what people were using. I heard the gitzo 2380 with bogen sticks was good but I have never used it. Thanks for your time.

Re: Tripod question

i forget exactly how much i paid from EVS Online (gotta love rush and all the deals he does for us) but i absolutely love my 525mv with the 503 head!

i wish i had bought it sooner, i was kind of freaked out at the thought of paying that much for a tripod but i really wish i had done it sooner. the ball leveler saves me so much time compared to my old fashioned bogen with the fixed head where you had to guess at the balance and adust the legs individually

i got some bundle that evs had with the tripod, head and the bag.

i am a sucker for bundles, you often get extra stuff and save money at the same time.

Hey MD, if you can't get the 503-525 combo, you may be right inline for the G2380 - 755B combo or the G2380 - 3221WN - leveler for right under $500. I love mine. I can tell you, though, that it not a heavyweight head, and it doesn't compensate for a shaky arm, but it is a true fluid head and super-smooth once you get the hang of it. ;)

Re: Tripod question

Thanks rush. So, you think the 503\525 is the way to go but money wise the 2380 is good for the money.

Re: Tripod question

Yes, the 503 is definitely the one on the top for giving most support, but the G2380 is the rising contender for quality and value.
